I am lucky to be a generally healthy person, but I needed to see a doctor. I called in the afternoon thinking it might be quieter - 8th in the queue and it took 30 mins. Took just minutes and the receptionist was pleasant and helpful. How do people who are not retired do this?

@DeputyGrocott I once had to buy my son new school shoes for “prize day” at the end of the summer term as he old ones had literally fallen apart. Crazy waste of money

@MrBoothY6 @DeputyGrocott A long time ago when I worked in a deprived area we let the children wear trainers because “cheap” trainers are better for their feet than “cheap” shoes. Comfort and activity are more important.
