PGRs aren't considered 'critical workers' yet there are no mechanisms for them to be furloughed and are not receiving adequate support from @UKRI_News. Without the labour of PGRs the UK's HE research sector collapses. Still, PGRs are not receiving the support they need. 1/3
Am I reading this right? Is the suggestion really ‘have 6-12 months less work in your thesis’ rather than ‘let’s figure out a way to fund extensions’?!? That has huge, disastrous career consequences for students who will be competing for jobs against people without disruption.
