How are you releasing stock and how will it bring prices down? You aren’t increasing the number of houses, just making landlords sell to buyers. At best, you might see a slight reduction in the sale price. At worst, there will be less houses available for rent which increases to cost to renters. There are better things the government could do to help everyone, but they won’t.
@linmeitalks The UK left Rhodesia a wealthy country and look what happened. On the other hand, look at Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA. Are you making an argument that European countries should have remained in charge of their empires?
@Heccles94 Harry, what happens to people who are on £15ph right now? Do you think their wages will rise in line with the minimum wage? Or will they become minimum wage earners themselves?
@PhilipProudfoot What you’re really saying is that you don’t want any small or medium sized business at all, and instead want the economy controlled by large monopolies. The government is responsible for driving inflation, making everything more expensive. This is the problem.
@ZackPolanski I think there is a difference with the labour of a 16 year old compared to a 25 year old. Experience should count. Increases like this will just reduce everyone to minimum wage.
