Today, as part of Operation Endgame, the FBI joins our international law enforcement partners in announcing the disruption of SocGholish malware. SocGholish, active since 2018, is a Java-script based malware that masquerades as a legitimate browser update via compromised websites. The malware establishes an initial foothold into victim computers, collectively known as a botnet, and is then used by threat actors for further targeting with ransomware campaigns and espionage. As part of the operation, 106 servers and domains were taken down, 14,971 websites were remediated, the botnet was disabled, and victims were notified.
This action is part of Operation Riptide, an ongoing FBI campaign targeting the criminal actors, infrastructure, and financial networks behind cybercrime, cyber-enabled crime, and fraud against the American people.

NEW MOTORS DEPUTIES
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle unit welcomed two new deputies to its fleet this week with a recognition ceremony held June 17 at the SCSO substation in Arlington. Deputies L. Brown and C. Wooten completed the two-week school on May 29 and will continue their training as members of the Traffic/Motors/DUI bureau
Deputy Brown has been with SCSO since 2018. Deputy Wooten has been with SCSO since 2024. Assistant Chief Derek Mills, Chief Inspector Mark Kellerhall, Captain Mark Wagner, Lieutenant Marcus Clark, and Sergeant Sharif James, congratulated the pair on their new assignment.
The SCSO Motor School certification is recognized nationwide and is an intensive 80-hour course of instruction. It is one of the most challenging training programs to complete, with a historical failure rate ranging from 50% to 75%. By the third day of training, students are often physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted. This rigorous course prepares candidates to safely and effectively operate a 900-pound Harley-Davidson motorcycle at both slow and high speeds while mastering proper braking techniques, throttle control, and friction-zone management.
Both Deputy Brown and Deputy Wooten embraced the instruction provided by their training staff, applied the lessons taught, and remained committed through every challenge. Their discipline, determination, and willingness are a testament to this achievement.

Mississippi families and farmers benefit when our food supply chain is strong. That’s why I’m proud to join @SenAdamSchiff in introducing the American Food Supply Chain Resiliency Act. This legislation will build out the pathways that get food from farm to market, expand opportunities for our producers, and get more locally grown food to the schools, hospitals, and food banks that serve Mississippi families.
The owner of two South Florida nursing schools has pleaded guilty for her role in a scheme that sold fraudulent nursing diplomas and transcripts, undermining trust in the healthcare system and putting patient safety at risk. Federal investigators continue to pursue those who profit from fraud and those who attempt to bypass professional licensing requirements.
If you think cutting corners is worth the risk, think again. Fraud may offer a shortcut, but it can lead to criminal charges, financial penalties, loss of professional licenses, and prison time.
