Ponder this regarding Machiavelli.
In life, Machiavelli was a satirist play writer.
IMHO, "The Prince" (enumeration of methods of ruler control) is satire. All methods of control / servitude result in "ignoble ends" for rulers who enslave people, regardless of method.

The unstated implication / conclusion of The Prince IS: Freedom always wins, once the survival hits of the alternatives take their toll on societies.
