@RepDanGoldman Where are the consequences for those that launched this investigation and then dropped it? Either there was malfeasance or they brought false charges to leverage Powell. Disgusting.
“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist.”
― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism
My adult daughter Rachel, works everyday, pays taxes, has friends, loves going to the movies, and listens to lousy (IMO) music. She has a meaningful and thoughtful life.

America was built on Judeo-Christian values, not in spite of them.
But the genius of the Founding Fathers wasn’t just in acknowledging God, it was in understanding human nature, power, and the destructive history of state-imposed religion.
They watched how England unraveled when religious affiliation became a weapon of the crown. Kings and queens didn’t just worship differently, they forced the nation to follow.
Henry VIII’s break from the Catholic Church wasn’t just theological; it was political. Then came his son Edward, hardline Protestant. Then Mary, radical Catholic. Then Elizabeth, back to Protestantism.
And with each swing of the pendulum, people were exiled, imprisoned, or executed for the "crime" of believing wrong.
The Founding Fathers saw how when religion becomes the government, tyranny follows.
So they did something radical. Something bold. They separated church and state.
Not because they were atheists. Not because they wanted a godless society.
On the contrary, many of them believed deeply in God. But they were wise enough to realize that to protect faith, you had to keep it out of the hands of politicians.
They didn’t build a secular system to erase religion. They built a system that could rise above religious affiliation, so that the law would protect everyone, no matter who held office or what god they prayed to.
That’s why America’s Constitution has outlasted every political system on earth. Because it wasn’t built on the shifting sands of power, it was built on universal truths.
On the belief that freedom comes from God, not the government.
The idea that all men are created equal. That rights are unalienable. That justice must be blind to creed.
These are Judeo-Christian values, baked into the very soul of the American experiment.
So don’t confuse the separation of church and state with a rejection of faith. It was never about removing God from society. It was about making sure no one could use God’s name to seize power over others.
