Dear Education,
If we want tests to be true indicators of how a student will do in the real world, make them open book.
I care more about if you can find & apply info than if you can memorize it.

@maritstiles@AndreaHorwath What are schools suppose to do with excessive absences? Teachers will be pulled to cover, cohorts will be mixed. This create a disruptive, chaotic school environment that does maintain the integrity of the programs. It also puts people at risk for exposure = more absences.
When you are debating whether or not it's comfortable for you to do equity work or if you can "fit it" into your curriculum, remember that hate is literally killing people out here and that you have the power to make positive change and save lives. It really is that simple.
This school year has been very difficult and far from ideal for everyone, but calling it a “lost” or “wasted” year is an insult to educators and students who have worked harder than ever and accomplished amazing things.
I think that I will look back on this year with pride.
