@drjanetownson@SebRees1 All LAs will have a Public Health director, so this this is an interesting proposition. More appropriately uses their skill set too, in my opinion.
@Laconic_doc I did a mock interview with a kid who didn’t get in (dental) last year in the same scenario. He had a blast on a gap year and getting relevant experience, re-interviewed (knowing he had the grades already) and got offers - which maybe shows the unis like that they are no ‘gamble’
@mattspx O2 used to have the emergency services contract (and associated masts). They lost the contract and now have too many people for the masts available.
@noodles_nood Not a GP, but on my patch we need more and practices are actively recruiting - Cheshire and Merseyside footprint is fertile ground (as long as you are potentially happy with a short commute).
@iamtomskinner Amazing work you’re doing, and third sector orgs do a sterling job - but it’s not that easy. Services have to be commissioned through a really stringent process which is (unfortunately for your narrative) nothing to do with Sadiq Khan.
Problematic, and a symptom of current central funding for NHS dental provision. This isn’t an NHS charge, and yet is being described as one to a service user. A new, prevention focused contract is required, alongside transparency by this particular dental practice.
@nicsjourney2BDS It doesn’t. You need to complete a GDC accredited specialty training programme, or grandfather through a portfolio route onto the specialist list.
For some specialties a Masters’ in a pre-requisite for specialist registration, but not all. I completed a 5 year StR training + MPH
@DrNeilStone Problem is, part of the human condition seems to be - when you get there, you don’t want to make it easier for others to get to where you are…
