The Central DeWitt girls tennis team is headed to the 1A state team meet, slated for Oct. 6-7 in Pella. The Sabers knocked off host Fairfield, 5-4, to earn the program's third state team berth.
The Central DeWitt boys 4x400 team of Abe Krukow, Caleb Olson, Nathan Butler and Alex Brown close out the area's state track weekend by improving four spots on their seeding with a fourth-place finish in 3:22.64.
Central DeWitt had a pair of finishers in the 3A 1,600-meter run: sophomore Kyle Olson was 16th in 4:30.81, while junior Adam Wilke placed 22nd with his time of 4:35.46.
Northeast sophomore Jordan Tegeler closes out the Rebels' weekend at the state track meet by taking eighth in the 2A 200-meter dash, clocking in at 26.14.
The Olson brothers, Caleb and Kyle, are two of 21 3A 800-meter competitors to clock in under two minutes. Caleb is 14th in 1:57.95 and Kyle 20th in 1:59.27.
With a monster close by Alex Brown in the 400-meter leg, the Central DeWitt boys sprint medley team --- Brady Meadows, Michael Palmer, Jonathan Garrison and Brown --- wins the second heat and finishes sixth overall in 3A with a time of 1:33.42.
Northeast's girls sprint medley team nearly catches West Lyon for the win in the first heat. The team of Raelyn Schroeder, Natalyn Tarr, Claire Johnson and Jordan Tegeler finishes 12th overall in 2A with their time of 1:51.70.
Calamus-Wheatland junior Chase Klatt clears the first two heights in the 1A high jump without a miss, which helps break some ties and gives him a ninth-place finish.

The Northeast boys had two medalists in the discus: junior Cael Kluever was sixth with his best throw of 152-6, while senior Grant Gray was the runner-up --- a throw of 171-4 --- trading the lead with champion Jace Henderson of MVAOCOU across the last two rounds of the finals.
