The railroad industry which made $20 billion in profits last year cannot continue to deny workers paid sick leave. It is unacceptable and dangerous for conductors & engineers to be on call for 14 consecutive days, 12 hours a day & then get fired for going to a doctor.
This morning, Melissa Lucio gave the following message to her friends Sabrina Van Tassel and Sandra Jonas to be delivered to her supporters and all that have advocated for her innocence as she awaits the decision of the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles:
A Texas court has halted the execution of Melissa Lucio — for now.
Her case will now go back to trial courts where it will be reviewed again.
Capital punishment is a cruel practice that should not be carried out on Melissa or anyone else. https://t.co/cf3mhwDttr
“It will be a historic, irreversible blunder.” New evidence casts strong doubt on the conviction of Melissa Lucio, who is set to be the first Hispanic woman executed in Texas. The case has brought an outcry from Democrats and Republicans. https://t.co/nP7GOa4lA3
Watch @VanessaPotkin, one of Melissa Lucio's attorneys, describe the coercive tactics police used to get a false confession out of her within hours of her daughter's death. Melissa is scheduled for execution on April 27, for a crime that never occurred. https://t.co/lzWM0HOVAf

So heartbreaking to read this letter from Melissa Lucio’s children begging for the state not to kill their mother. There are so many unresolved questions surrounding this case and the evidence that was used to convict her.
Asked about #MelissaLucio today in Brownsville, @GovAbbott said parole board hasn’t given him recommendation yet, “I’ll make a decision once it comes to me” #txlege
"While pregnant with twins, Melissa was subjected to a five-hour, late-night and aggressive interrogation until, physically and emotionally exhausted." #SaveMelissaLucio https://t.co/rvD2ozH2OU
