NDLEA Arrests Fleeing Celebrity Drug Kingpin, Busts International Cocaine Cartel in Lagos
By Zagazola Makama
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled an international cocaine trafficking cartel operating through Nigeria as a transit hub to the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia, arresting its alleged Nigerian kingpin as he attempted to flee the country.
The operation also led to the seizure of 184.50kg of cocaine, which the cartel allegedly intended to move through a courier logistics channel in Lagos for onward distribution, with an estimated street value of about N39 billion.
The NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), disclosed the development while addressing journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Marwa described the operation as one of the most significant narcotics investigations undertaken by the agency in recent times, particularly because it resulted in what he described as the largest cocaine seizure made through a courier company in Nigeria.
According to him, the investigation began after NDLEA operatives intercepted the 184.50kg consignment concealed for onward export through a courier logistics channel in Lagos.
Following the magnitude of the seizure, the NDLEA chairman directed the establishment of a Special Investigation Team to trace the entire trafficking network, including the couriers, intermediaries, financiers and alleged masterminds behind the shipment.
The investigation subsequently uncovered a network of companies and individuals allegedly used by the cartel to process and move cocaine out of Nigeria.
One of the key suspects arrested was identified as Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a staff member of the logistics company through which the cocaine consignment was processed. Investigators allegedly established that Kehinde maintained a sustained relationship with the cartel’s Nigerian coordinator and was involved in packaging and processing consignments for the syndicate.
The NDLEA said he allegedly helped route shipments to the United Kingdom, other European countries and Asia, receiving payments in cash for his role.
The investigation then led operatives to a more prominent suspect identified as Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as “KC Luxury.” The agency described him as the alleged Nigerian arrowhead of the international cartel.
According to the NDLEA, Afolabi presented himself publicly as a luxury goods dealer and social media influencer involved in gold, jewellery and other high-value items, while allegedly using the lifestyle surrounding his businesses to conceal his involvement in international cocaine trafficking.
Investigators alleged that the network operated a cocaine pipeline stretching from South America through Nigeria to the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
Marwa said the alleged cartel leader was arrested on the night of August 13, 2026, after the agency received intelligence that he was planning to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris.NDLEA operatives reportedly moved to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and arrested him at the boarding gate shortly before he could leave the country. He was allegedly found in possession of €7,750, £2,800 and N100,000 in cash, alongside expensive jewellery.

Please don't be quick to brag about how your faith gets you riches when you're on the receiving end of people's generosity.
It may be more about the sacrifice and love from those around you than your confession of "I can never be poor in my life"
When a woman truly loves you, she will fix her attitude, her tone, her habits, anything that risks losing you. Not because you begged her. But because the thought of hurting you or watching you walk away matters more to her than protecting her pride.
Real love makes her reflect. It makes her mindful of how her words land, how her actions affect you, and how she can show up better.
A woman who truly loves you will never stay comfortable in behavior that causes you pain.
She chooses peace with you over being right by herself. 💔🤌🏼✌🏽️
How did the House of God become a Den of thieves?
We prioritised religious activities that focused on improving our brands and making profits rather than serving our King with our lives and sacrifices.
We desecrated sacred and holy things because we wanted to have more fun, so we chose to play with demons instead of labouring with God.
We embraced human philosophy and carnal strategies and made it the dominant conversation from the pulpit, so we became a house of men instead of a House of God.
We sought the favor of kings and celebrities to the point that we compromised the message of our God to become more attractive to our customers.
