@justinskycak Preregistering assumption that the breakthrough is Anki plus deliberate practice before reading, and crossing fingers there’s something new here I can incorporate.
@SpencrGreenberg I’m struggling to figure out what definition of belief you’d have to hold for this question to make sense… It implies that beliefs are real things that are volitionally separable from true things, that you can just choose to believe something on a whim…
Finally got around to reading Quantum Country. Learning that “superposition” just means “the sum of the coefficients of the basis vectors” is wild to me. Always assumed that was some impenetrable concept and off limits to fools like me and not… linear algebra…!
@tomcxphillips Looks amazing man. Love the way you handle inline comments there. Am targeting Windows/macOS/iPadOS but will look into the DC-1. App currently relies heavily on D3D12/Metal sparse/tiled resources and pixel-shader support so will have to look into capabilities!
Got my iPad Pro expecting to read on the thing, but couldn't find a single reading app that came close to slash surpassed paper. Spent the last year building a source-neutral infinite* reader app that actually lets you read like Adler intended. Things are finally shaping up (:
Order of the Sinking Star seems excellent so far! Wasn’t expecting the writing slash banter slash voice acting to be so good. Game has that characteristic Jonathan Blow UI aesthetic though that always feels unpolished somehow...
Australia exempting Bluesky from their social media age-gating implies things like, "You may not engage with David Deutsch unless you break the law." Totally normal policy...
@robinhanson Possible that couples that want kids leave downtown for suburbs, and downtown populations are skewed young, single, career-focused? Both predict low urban TFR even if density itself has zero causal effect?
