Are you consultant in Engl/Wls? Have YOU checked if back pay correctly allocated to 23/24 & 24/25 tax years for pensions?
This year 18 consultant could save £5.5k by not paying for growth on incorrectly allocated arrears (which are COMMON).

1/ V. Important 🧵 if you are CONSULANT in England. This week I used my FREE modeller to identify & correct an error in #AnnualAllowance for 24/25 which I suspect may be a common error. It will save me over £2,600 from my AA liability, buckle up & see if you are affected

Please do something about this. The #taper 👇 is a real problem in 24/25 and for many like this consultant from a major shortage speciality like my own.

He WANTS to help the waiting lists and in fact literally did an extra waiting list shift TODAY

BUT Now now he has crunched the numbers and knows he cannot do a SINGLE extra shift having worked out he would be #PayingToWork

This is the problem with the nonsensical cliff inbuilt to the taper

(6) in my view it’s past time @DHSCgovuk @HMRCgovuk to put out urgent guidance that due to the administration failures of @nhs_pensions (and to be fair other pensions agencies affecting doctors) that deadlines need to be formally relaxed around RPSS and SA for 23/24

Dear @HMRCcustomers @HMRCgovuk I wonder if you can provide some clarity on "on demand Annual Allowance statements".

I know that hundreds of members, including myself, have asked @nhs_pensions- the largest DB pension provider in the UK for an "on-demand Pension Saving Statement"

I'm a hospital doc. I want to reduce waiting lists. If I do an hour extra work my hospital will pay me £115. However, this one hour will trigger an additional tax bill of >£25,000. Why doesn't the government want me to work? @wesstreeting @RachelReevesMP @goldstone_tony

As we ebb ever closer to another fiscal even, its worth reminding senior leaders and politicians / decision makes that there are still MAJOR issues with the interaction of the taper for higher earners, which will cause big problems this winter 👇

@goldstone_tony I requested my PSS for 23/24, but got a message back saying they cannot accept requests for on demand statements. Only RPSS through automated process being sent currently. 23/24 PSS will be sent later, but no timescale currently.

@christiplady @goldstone_tony @mancunianmedic The first year I got one my accountant said he'd never seen it before, but thought it couldn't possibly apply to me. The second year, I changed accountant and had to pay for two years. Thought I would have to sell the house for a while.

@goldstone_tony I have written to my MP raising the issue of a tax system which encourages doctors to reduce their level of activity to avoid huge tax penalties. The government needs to be pressed for a solution. @IanSollom

Forewarned, 🙏🙏🙏 @goldstone_tony, find I’m now sadly forced to drop research PA and really can’t fill any more rota gaps for rest of this tax year.
Was only way to avoid calculated massive looming AA tax for extra work, urgent action was needed.
