Wanting every piece of fiction to be “realistic” has ruined people’s ability to analyze a work critically.
Having a little suspension of disbelief is good, fiction ultimately derives from real life but can only capture a slice of it at most.

i still stand by the fact that yanderes are not a “dead trope.” people just got way more uncomfortable with letting fictional characters be genuinely immoral, obsessive, or toxic without needing them to be sanitized first. (🧵)
