Watching Argentina V Jordan highlights. Can't understand why VAR doesn't rule out the first goal cuz it shouldn't have been a FK. And then VAR does get involved to award a penalty for a player putting his head at waist height. It's like being in a parallel universe.
@DanClough87 He was very good when I was a kid. In so far as everyone said so, as I didn't properly follow football at a young age. Best ever? Maybe. He and Kane are probably the least contentious picks out of whole XI.
I'd love for there to be a valid reason for that not to be a penalty, but there isn't. It's a clumsy challenge, and a penalty every single time. #fraVsen#worldCup2026
@theawayfans Relatively, I'd say yes. But sports science has improved player fitness, speed and agility so much in that time. It's hard to see the old timers winning if they played each other.
@journoyt@theawayfans I don't massively disagree, but Anderton was very good when he wasn't injured. But on the subject of Workd class, who in the current team is? Kane excepted.
Dying for a Qatari equaliser here. Switzerland have been pretty dire against such a weak team, and shouldn't have had that pen either. VAR joke as usual. #qatVsui#worldCup2026
@SkySportsNews I'm shocked that anyone would think this is a harsh punishment. They knowingly broke rules in preparation for the knockout game that put them in the final. It's the ONLY appropriate punishment.
@j_marsh98@garysmith2301 That's one of two things I'll always remember him for. The other is dinking it in to the PNE keepers hands when one on one last minute before they went up the other end and scored.
Overall, I think he was a good player. Frustrating that there wasn't more moments like this.
