Change is possible especially when Disengagement, Rehabilitation and Reintegration is driven by planned and sustained strategy, hope and heartiness.
A positive and successful end base will always work towards Alternatives and Prevention of Violent Extremism.
A new form of violent extremism is emerging, and prevention approaches must evolve ๐โ ๏ธ
At the 26th @ASEAN SOMTC, @GCERF_ED Dr. Khalid Koser highlighted rapidly evolving, youth-centred, digitally enabled violence โ sometimes linked to Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE) and online subcultures such as the True Crime Community.
Drawing on over a decade of community-based prevention work, three lessons stand out:
โข Digital literacy alone is not enough โ trusted adults and offline support are essential
โข Prevention works when schools, families, and authorities are connected
โข Early intervention is critical
Online risks cross borders, but resilience is built locally โ in families, schools, and communities ๐ค
GCERF works with partners in Indonesia and the Philippines to translate national priorities into local action.
As the threat evolves, so must the response.

Kenya hosts millions of them from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi and even Nigeria yet we don't go about beating them on the streets.

Nobody has changed more industries in a single lifetime.
Payments. Cars. Energy. Space. Social Media. Communications. AI.
History wonโt remember the people who said it couldnโt be done.
It will remember the people who did it anyway.
Congratulations Elon.
The first trillionaire. ๐
We remain united in sorrow as we honour the lives of the 16 girls whose lives were tragically cut short. Though our daughters are no longer with us, the love, memories, and joy they shared will forever remain in our hearts.
The National Police Service stands with the bereaved families during this difficult period of grief and remembrance. Their daughters will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
Faith can be a source of peace, resilience, and unity, but when distorted, it can also be exploited to justify violence and division.
Join us today for an engaging X Space dialogue as experts, practitioners, faith leaders, and community actors unpack how extremist groups misuse religious teachings and explore the role of credible faith-based voices in building resilience against violent extremism.

๐ก What does a 20% shift in attitudes linked to violent extremism actually look like?
In Niger, it looks like this: the same people, measured before and after GCERF-funded programmes, showing measurably healthier views on identity, belonging, and personal wellbeing โ the very factors that make individuals susceptible to radicalisation.
When people feel secure in who they are and where they belong, extremist narratives lose their grip. GCERF's programmes in Niger addressed exactly these root causes. The numbers reflect it.
This is a before-and-after measurement using a validated tool developed by GCERF.
This is what evidence-based prevention delivers. And it is replicable.
