This semester, I had the privilege of interning at Turner Ashby High School here in Harrisonburg, VA! I had the best time and even got to make my mark in the community by helping teach study skills to the at risk freshmen. #JMUPsychSymposium2021 Ask me about it!

@DocShnox @JmuPsychology For example: he had an English paper coming up and we planned out how he could accomplish that by using new time management skills of working each day for a small period of time, instead of doing it all the night before!

@DocShnox @JmuPsychology Thank you! I met with the 9th grader once a week for 5 weeks. My supervisor gave me a study skills booklet that the student and I would work through each week while also seeing what techniques they could try to implement in their studies that week.

@Paige_Fischer_ @JmuPsychology It was also really important for me that the students know that they can hear study tips and tricks all day long but if they do not pick out what specifically works for them, they will not see as many benefits!

@Paige_Fischer_ @JmuPsychology Sure thing! For the various study skills areas I talked about tips for better organization & studying, using the 3 column section for taking notes, the importance of time management, and more!

@JmuPsychology Such a great experience and even cooler to see how fruitful it was in the midst of a global pandemic!
