This is what happens when galaxies collide; a billion year gravitational waltz.
This supercomputer simulation includes images from Hubble of actual galactic collisions at different stages.

Our ESA/Hubble Picture of the Week features the Lost Galaxy!
The spiral galaxy NGC 4535 is also known as the ‘Lost Galaxy’ because it is so faint when viewed through a small telescope. With its 2.4m mirror, however, Hubble is well equipped for observing galaxies like this. 1/2
@nealasher I HIGHLY recommend The Last Kingdom if you haven't seen it yet! Just finished Season 5 myself and it is fantastic historical fiction. Plus its all based in your home country! 😉
@nealasher Reminds me of the heptapod language in Arrival and the “Sapir-Whorf hypothesis.” The idea that language doesn't just give people a way to express their thoughts—it influences or even determines those thoughts.
@nealasher Really like top right and bottom right, with the bottom right being the best. Bottom left is quite artistic and beautiful, but doesnt draw you in the same as the bottom right.
@nealasher Definitely The Skinner for me. I was looking for more sci-fi horror, and The Skinner was recommended a lot, so I gave it a shot. Then I went back and started from Prador Moon and Im a huge fan of your work now. Really hope to meet you in person one day.
@ReactorAxeMan@MikeColangelo Overwhelmed, as one would be, placed in my position
Such a heavy burden now to be The One
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see
But I forgot my pen
Shit the bed again

There is an exoplanet less reflective than coal. It's the darkest planet ever discovered orbiting a star, and its atmosphere is hotter than lava! It would incinerate any stocking it found itself in. Happy holidays from your exoplanet friends!

2️⃣ The NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope snapped this eerie, extremely dusty view of the Pillars of Creation in mid-infrared light using its MIRI instrument – showing us a new view of a familiar landscape.

@ENERGY@Livermore_Lab In summary: Team used 2.15MJ of laser energy to compress a deuterium-tritium target from the size of a basketball to the size of a pea. Output energy was 3.05MJ, or +41.8%. US government to share this technology with academia/investors/startups to fast-track commercialization.
@GlenSchofield Glen, TCP has been fantastic so far. Don't worry about the initial issues as you've clearly been working to fix them quickly and the game is an excellent addition to the sci-fi horror genre. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished here with Striking Distance.

Boomer: But why can't the slackers pay for college & pay off their loans like we did?
@nealasher Too true Neal. Too true. Thanks for the reminder.
Just cracked 62,000 words on my debut novel! Starting to see the end in sight!
Thanks for the inspiration and level-headedness. You're a gem.
