India/Pakistan Heat Wave day #1:Today 26 April the Pakistani station of Dadu reached 47.0C,tying the 2022 highest temperature in the Northern Hemisphere (=Matam,Senegal). In India 45.1C at Barmer. Unfortunately this is just the beginning and it'll get hotter in the next few days.
@DaniRabaiotti Yes but not necessarily in conservation. You'd be looking at government jobs in research. I've been exploring non academic research roles and they pay is pretty abysmal, unless you look at civil service
@lizardschwartz My husband owns his own building company. He said it's a reasonable price but should take him about 7 days. Any less, and it's a rushed job.
@AmyRLS I have chronic fatigue from my hEDS and as a long term consequence of chemotherapy... there is no funding at all for people with fatigue that can be related to chemotherapy. I bet more people have chemo related fatigue than long covid. Crazy!
@lizardschwartz I had my first when I was 32... I think, even those who want children, feel more able to delay it now. It used to be that women didn't particularly work as much as men. Times are changing. I think that a lot of women want to feel secure and independent financially before kids
@lizardschwartz @wildlypip Our house near Pontypridd has gone up 50k since 2019! I think it's because Bristol is near London prices now. So, people move to areas around Cardiff where they can commute to Cardiff and Bristol. Newport is good for investment, as is Chepstow.
@Sophiae007 It's crazy... we have another baby on the way and I'm just glad they'll be tiny in the summer. Everyone will be in thermals in the winter! We don't put the heating above 17C at the moment as it is!
@RR_Cotter @PhDVoice@thephdstory@PhDForum I didn't change my name. Why does the woman have to change her name? The way i saw it is that it's an old fashioned tradition from when men used to own their wives. There are obviously conveniences to having the same surname when you have children, but we do just fine π
