🇷🇴 Cristela Georgescu says Romania feels more oppressive to her today than it did before communism fell.
Not because the old system was freer. Because back then, she says, nobody pretended it was.
“You knew you were not allowed to talk against it.”
What disturbs her now is the contradiction: people are told they are free to speak and challenge the system, while she believes political dissent is punished underneath that democratic surface.
“Today we are told, ‘You’re free.’”
For someone who actually remembers Romania before 1989, that distinction is what frightens her most.
Not open dictatorship.
A system that still calls itself free while, in her view, behaving increasingly like one.

🇷🇴 Cristela Georgescu says one of the strongest pieces of “evidence” used against their campaign was a €1 payment.
Literally one euro.
The transfer came after the campaign had already ended, with a message mocking Georgescu by referring to “Russian money.”
Yet she says it still appeared in the case as proof that money had entered the campaign.
The second part is even stranger.
Cristela says ordinary TikTok users, many of them pensioners, were questioned about promoting Georgescu’s videos. Most denied being paid or even knowing him.
And many were then fined €2,000 anyway.
Her point is simple:
If unpaid supporters sharing videos can be treated as undeclared campaign spending, then the definition of “campaign financing” becomes very elastic indeed.

🇷🇴 Cristela says the campaign against Călin Georgescu did not stop when the election was cancelled.
He tried to run again and was blocked. Then came the criminal cases.
One alleging a coup attempt. Another involving fascism and antisemitism. And now a fraud case serious enough to place him under rules normally used for organized crime and terrorism.
Cristela’s concern is not just the charges themselves.
It’s that major political figures and much of the media, in her view, began treating him as guilty before the courts had established anything.
“If he is unguilty, he has to prove that.”
That is the part she finds most disturbing.
Not simply that Călin is being prosecuted.
But that the burden seems, in her eyes, to have flipped from the state proving guilt to him proving innocence.
@CG_Romania
🇷🇴 The man Romania elected to be their President was arrested, and now his wife, mother of two kids, is fighting for her husband’s release.
Less than 2 years ago, Călin Georgescu won the Romanian Presidential election by a wide margin, with zero marketing, no backing by the establishment, just the popular vote of the Romanian vote.
The establishment went into crisis mode, trying to figure out what to do next. Their solution?
They cancelled the entire election, barred him from running again, created what looks like bogus charges against him, and jailed him.
This is in ROMANIA, a member of the EU that considers itself a democracy
To give you an idea of who Călin is, the first interview we did together was in his small living room, which is connected to his kitchen. No fancy palace, no security, just a humble family home with his wife and 2 young kids.
The second time I interviewed Călin was remotely when he was first arrested. He warned me back then that the establishment will keep going after him until he’s in jail, and he was right.
It’s the same playbook playing over and over again. ‘They’ did the same thing to Trump, they failed. ‘They’ did it to President Bolsonaro, and it is failing as we speak. And now ‘they’ are doing it to Călin Georgescu.
And if the world does nothing, ‘they’ will keep doing it. As former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton blatantly said in an interview: “We did it in Romania, and we will obviously have to do it if it is necessary in Germany.”
The Fmr EU Commissioner blatantly telling the world that the same thing they did in Romania they will repeat in other EU countries.
I spoke with Cristela Georgescu about the latest in the case against Călin, how their children watched their father being HANDCUFFED, and how her family is being FOLLOWED and their privacy VIOLATED.
And after my conversation with her, one question stands out:
What happens when a country continues to hold elections, calls itself a DEMOCRACY, and promises its citizens FREEDOM... but those challenging the authorities believe those very promises are being used to conceal their persecution?
That's the warning Cristela Georgescu wants the world to hear.

Zelensky kidnapping another son from his mother.
A naked man is being dragged along the ground. Forbidden even for animals.
Tortures worse than those of the fascists!
For money, Zelensky is destroying the Ukrainian nation!
All who support him - you have no heart!

Intanto i nostri agricoltori sono schiacciati dai costi e dalla burocrazia. Le imprese arrancano. Le famiglie fanno i conti al supermercato. I giovani fanno le valigie.
L’Italia deve tornare a decidere.
@vonderleyen Tell it to Calin Georgescu in Romania. Tell it to the people in Moldova, whose opposition parties were banned. Tell it to the 11 opposition parties banned by the Narcofuhrer in Kiev.
Speaking of "Democracy" how's the elections in Ukraine going?
🚨🇷🇴 A Romanian court has ordered Georgescu moved from JAIL to house arrest, but prosecutors are already preparing to challenge the decision.
The Bucharest Tribunal ruled TODAY that Georgescu's pretrial detention should be replaced with 30 days of house arrest.
Anti-organized-crime prosecutors plan to appeal, meaning Georgescu's release from jail is far from guaranteed.
And there's a precedent: the same judge previously refused to jail him in September, only for a higher court to overturn that decision.
For now, the ruling is neither final nor a guarantee that he will leave detention....

🚨🇷🇴 Georgescu says his supporters are being PUNISHED for defending their beliefs!
But he says the truth will eventually prevail...
Georgescu said many Romanians have paid a price for their patriotism and political convictions, adding that he is aware of what they have endured.
He urged supporters to remain united and peaceful as Romania faces what he described as a period of serious trials.
