How does everyone approach the introduction paragraphs to their lit. reviews? I am discovering that my main idea in that paragraph is often in the middle, following general sentences designed to "introduce" the topic. #engl693mu
@wnartz I am finding that the journal is a good place to go when I am stuck. I have been doing a lot of 5 min brainstorming sessions and then skimming for ideas. This is really helpful and something I learned in this class! #engl693mu
Will I ever get to a point where I feel a similar sense of ease in academic writing as I do when I write in my journal. I want to think about how I can write with more calm awareness and less strain. Any ideas? #engl693mu
@krimd16 I'm right there with you. As I move into drafting this week, I am needing to tuck back into my writing community. It is good to know we are all moving through this (and really so much) together! #engl693mu
I noticed that the literature review seemed to pinpoint a critical essay/work about chapter's topic and then moves through how it is received, critiqued, expanded, challenged, etc. #engl693mu
I would say that Ray uses plain style in Ch. 1 & 6. Although I I did notice that at times he departs and uses the inclusive "we." What else did people notice about Ray's style. I kept wanting him to spice things up a bit ๐ฅ #engl693mu
@wnartz I like this! It is great to learn that pauses and breaks are actually part of the process. I enjoyed how several of the journal activities made me stop and allow ideas to settle. #engl693mu
In Engl674 @npfannen asked us to tweet about our process. I have to admit that #Engl693mu is helping me develop more of a systematic one that gives ample time at the beginning for brainstorming and organizing ideas. Is anyone else shifting writing habits?
@npfannen Question: Do you plan out your week with the writing tracker? Do you sit down on Sunday and determine when you will write for the week and then fill in those time slots? Or do you simply sit down to write when you have time and fill out the tracker as you go? #engl693mu
@npfannen Pencils? Oh wow! I haven't worked with pencils in quite some time. Will need to experiment. I also look at journals and notebooks everywhere I go. I am looking for a certain page thickness. So specific ๐ #engl693mu
I'm trying the @npfannen method of tracking in a designated section of my journal. This practice feels more grounding. I think I will proceed in this fashion and remix as needed! #engl693mu
I've always spent large chunks of time on writing assignments. During those session, I often sit in front of my screen agonizing over sections of writing. What if I broke projects down into smaller sections? I am going to experiment. #engl693muI
Initially I was drawn to the idea of using google sheets as a writing tracker but when I started to set it up, it felt cumbersome. I was getting frustrated and didn't like the feeling of starting a writing session by having to navigate technology. #engl693mu
What ideologies influence writing instruction at the high school level? I want to focus on narrative writing and it's absence in high school curriculum's. #engl693mu@npfannen
