As an Indigenous academic, I find the university ethics processes to work with Indigenous communities upsetting and anxiety inducing. They damage my existing relationships with communities and make my navigating in culturally appropriate ways… impossible. #nativesinstem
Thinking of @uarizona Wildcat community. A place I called home for years. Thinking of Professor Tom Meixner who was murdered today doing his job as a PROFESSOR. WTF! Professor Meixner was an ally who supported Indig science & scientists. My heart breaks for his family. No words.
Undergraduate students from the state's 22 federally recognized Native American tribes will no longer have to pay tuition and mandatory fees at @uarizona main campus in Tucson.

A simple and positive thing our school did this year was to order our graduation caps a month early so Indigenous students and families had more time to do decorative beading if desired. In the past the caps arrived only a few days before the ceremony. #SD53

Systemic/institutional racism-ways that whiteness &white superiority become embedded in the policies &processes of an institution, resulting in a system that advantages white people &disadvantages BIPOC/IBPOC, notably in employment, education, justice, &social participation.
School district #73 first annual district powwow. A success. After the memorial on Monday it felt so good to have the arbour filled with happy children. So glad the IFVE Indigenous Family Voices of Education could partake and support.
