Yes, we see U1 on a proper rotation make the out call at home. What is left out (and I’m sure it was done) was the plate umpire calling TIME and awarding the runner home due to the obstruction.

@coachcris_ @KentMurphy Nothing in NFHS rule set mentions 45 degrees. It does mention stepping directly. So the judgement becomes did he step directing? I say he steps more toward home than 3rd.

@KentMurphy NFHS 6.2.4 - you can throw to an unoccupied base to drive back a runner — but here I’d have a balk on the step to home instead of toward the base throwing to.

@FiskPT “trucking” anyone is not legal and it’s the definition of “malicious” contact. And malicious contact supersedes obstruction. The penalty for malicious contact is an out on the runner and an ejection. Now who’s learning the lesson?

@3N2 may I suggest reinforcing the eyelets on your patent leather plate shoes?

I’ve been a fan of your shoes, but the latest pair had weaknesses that ripped at the leather eyelet causing the leather to tear.

I am trying this fix of adding metal eyelets to support those wholes and potentially reduce the stress and tear of the leather.
