Absolutely! The Indian IT sector has uplifted an entire generation of professionals connected to IT and ITeS. Otherwise, with the manufacturing sector steadily declining since the late 1980s, agriculture heading toward intensive care, and unemployment rising, our economic system could have come under severe strain.
Great point, Sabeer. Now ask the harder question, why do Indians think transactionally? Because for centuries, every ruler Mughal, British, post-independence bureaucrat, took more than they gave. A peasant who trusted the zamindar lost his harvest. A small businessman who trusted the system lost his case in court for 15 years. Transactional thinking is scar tissue. You don't heal scar tissue with motivational framing. You heal it by building institutions that deliver and that people can actually trust. That's the real work.
Talent is nurtured in the cradle of resources and opportunities. Economies that provide abundant resources and opportunities naturally attract and retain talent. India's challenge is not a lack of talent, but a shortage of opportunities commensurate with the aspirations and abilities of her people.
This is exactly the issue. The rest of the world is often treated merely as customers rather than partners. Even though countries like India have contributed talent, expertise, and significant market support to the growth of the AI ecosystem, critical decisions can still be made unilaterally by companies and governments in the countries where these technologies originate.
Such dependence can be risky, not just for India, but for many economies. Now look at China. They have consistently prepared for situations like this, understanding that the United States can make decisions based on its own strategic interests, especially when the companies involved are American. If overdependence on foreign technology is considered a threat to their national security, then it can also become a threat to our national security. This episode is a reminder that technological self-reliance is not just an #economic goal; it is a strategic necessity.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

The presence of Mumbai, India's financial capital, generates enormous wealth. At the same time, parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada remain relatively poor. This creates a large disparity between the state's average income and the reality experienced by many residents.
Telangana has one of the highest per capita incomes in India, largely boosted by the economic activity of Hyderabad, especially in IT, pharmaceuticals, and high-value services. However, there is a significant gap between urban Hyderabad and many rural districts. The state's average income is pulled upward by the strong performance of the capital region.
People often focus on the size of someone's wealth, but rarely on the value that had to be created for that wealth to exist in the first place. Elon Musk did not become wealthy by winning a lottery ticket. His companies transformed industries, accelerated the adoption of electric vehicles, pushed the boundaries of space technology, and created opportunities for hundreds of thousands of employees, suppliers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
One may disagree with his personality, politics, or management style, but that is a separate discussion. The real question is whether the world is better off because of the innovations his companies helped bring about. The ability to safely transport astronauts to and from space using reusable spacecraft is the result of decades of engineering, investment, and risk-taking. Such achievements do not happen by chance; they happen because individuals and organizations are willing to pursue ambitious goals despite enormous odds. Extraordinary wealth can and should be debated. But extraordinary value creation should also be acknowledged. If someone creates technologies, industries, and opportunities that benefit millions of people, it is not surprising that they become extraordinarily wealthy in the process. Success on this scale is rarely an accident.
