@DelaAvemega@renewingprotest There is a little variance based on which source you use, but I think it is safe to say there were 7 married popes. It was Peter, Felix III, Hormisdas, Agatho, Adrian II, John XVII and Clement IV. Some lists have more.
@DelaAvemega@renewingprotest Catholic priests can be married. Not super common, but it is fine. More correctly- married men can become priests. This is typically an eastern Catholic thing.
@ShitpostRock I was 4’11 going into senior year of high school. I hit a growth spurt so hard that I had to take some pretty strong pain meds to get through. Started college at 5’11. We are just all on a different schedules.
@kyletanderson There are plenty of references to Jesus going to the Synagogue on the Sabbath “as was his custom”. (Luke 4:16). There is no better example to follow.
@janedough156472@TertiusIII Do you have any historical sources? I struggle to see how a practicing Catholic with daily readings (Old Testament, New Testament, Gospel) and daily prayers (often referencing scripture) could be unfamiliar with the Bible.
@TertiusIII I worry that many people who proclaim to be Catholic are really just interested in engagement and their ego. For others though, it might be less ignorance of what they say and more disagreement of what the scriptures mean. We are just out here doing our best.
@jcenters I am happy for you! A dedicated owner and great customer service are always in high demand. Good luck and God speed. I am sure you will make your sons proud.
@BoazOnTrail@CatholicHawk I remember my OCIA confession. 30 seconds in the priest told me to wrap it up. I know he meant well but that encounter lingers in my mind.
@gfredredma20099@residentreformr This is not an effective argument to use against Catholics. There is no requirement for them that it must be found in scriptures. This is also the majority position in Christianity- not just a Catholic thing.
@tallaksenk Local Parish has 90 people enrolled in RCIA this fall. Just started. Hearing about a lot more that are packed. That is up from 5 or 6 just a few years ago.
@wcmclaa I read my Bible way more now than when I was Protestant. I also spend more time praying and talking about Christ with others. I also believed that Catholics didn’t read their Bible until I became one. From day one I was encouraged to read mine regularly.
