The Indian Express got the data. Between March and July 2026, nearly 1.95 lakh blocking orders went to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
That's around 1,275 every single day. One every 68 seconds.

A year earlier, the same Home Ministry portal sent about 6 orders a day. Six.

And when the story came out, the government's own "clarification" made it worse. It said the real number was nearly 2.98 lakh.

One order can cover hundreds of posts and accounts. Meta has plugged its system straight into the Home Ministry's portal, so flagged posts can disappear without any human even reviewing them.

Today, the Attorney General of India told the Supreme Court that E20 is still an experiment — with results expected only next year.

This is the Union of India's own sworn submission.

Team Bharat began this research with one thesis: that E20, as structured, was never built to benefit Indian farmers. It was built to open a permanent market for American corn, ethanol and DDGS.

We have not found anyone else, anywhere, who traced this specific chain before: the DDGS export contradiction, the GAIL joint venture with a company holding DuPont's conversion patents, the undefined import quota with no reprocessing restriction. Team Bharat connected those dots first.

The evidence for who actually benefits is no longer speculative. Mark Mueller, President of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, called India's $500 billion trade commitment "a win for corn farmers." The US Grains Council said, plainly, that they need more "export homes" for DDGS. Indian sugarcane farmers, meanwhile, are still owed arrears that have tripled in a year, now being pushed toward maize — the one feedstock this very programme made more expensive.

We don't know what moved the government to tell the Court this is still an unproven experiment. What we know is that it confirms everything Team Bharat has documented.

2003 - Satyendra Dubey, IIT Kanpur grad, wrote to PM Vajpayee exposing corruption in the Golden Quadrilateral project. Begged to keep his name secret. Shot dead on his 30th birthday.

2004 - Manjunath Shanmugam, IIM Lucknow grad, sealed a petrol pump selling adulterated fuel under PM Manmohan Singh’s govt. 6 bullets. Dead at 27.

2005 - Narendra Kumar, IPS officer, seized illegal mining trucks in MP under CM Shivraj Chouhan. Crushed under a tractor. Dead at 30. His IAS wife was pregnant.

After these deaths, Parliament passed the Whistleblower Protection Act in 2014.

It has NEVER been activated. 12 years. Not a single day.

PM Modi’s govt said it needs amendments. Then introduced amendments in 2015 that actually gutted the law, making it illegal to expose corruption if it touches the Official Secrets Act. That bill failed and lapsed. Govt said okay, original Act is fine then. Still didn’t activate it.

100+ RTI activists killed since 2014. No party is innocent.

Modi’s govt has sat on the protection law for a decade.

From tomorrow, India becomes the ONLY country in the world to mandate SIM binding for WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal.

Not the US. Not the UK. Not even China. Just India.

The government says “cybersecurity.” Let’s fact-check that with their own data.

They already blocked 9.42 lakh fraudulent SIM cards. Already saved INR 5,489 Crore through existing systems. Already froze 24 lakh mule accounts.

The existing tools ARE working. So why put 100 Crore+ Indians under surveillance?

Cyber fraud in 2024 was INR 22,845 Crore. Banking apps ALREADY have SIM binding. Did that stop it? No. Fraudsters use burner SIMs. They’ll keep using burner SIMs. This rule punishes ordinary citizens, not criminals.

The Supreme Court in Puttaswamy (2017) ruled Privacy is a fundamental right under Article 21. Any restriction must be legal, necessary, and proportionate. This fails all three.

Meta and Google have formally called it “unconstitutional” and “ultra vires.” Even former Qualcomm VP Parag Kar confirmed Apple’s iOS literally blocks apps from reading SIM identifiers. The tech doesn’t even support what the government is demanding.

No public consultation. No parliamentary debate. No judicial oversight for disconnecting your access. WhatsApp Web forcefully logged out every 6 hours.

Internet Freedom Foundation demanded a rollback. Industry challenged it legally. Government’s response? “No extension.”

Yesterday I wrote about how the Whistleblower Protection Act was never implemented. Today the same government wants your messaging identity without a court order.

Won’t protect those who expose corruption. But will track every message you send.

This isn’t cybersecurity. This is a pattern.
