I love this initiative.

Traditionally, Jews around the world do not eat chametz, leavened products, over Passover.

No bread, no biscuits, not even crackers.

If it's got flour in it, it has to be produced from start to finish in under 18 minutes.

As a result, over the month leading up to Passover, we try to finish whatever we have in our kitchens.

Whatever remains tends to get thrown out.

Three enterprising young Jerusalemites set out to change that.

Two Jews and an Arab are going around Jewish communities in Central/South Jerusalem for the next week to collect unopened packages of pasta, cookies and more.

Each day, everything will be taken to needy Muslim and Christian families a few miles away in East Jerusalem.

As a Jew, I am mindful of another biblical injunction: Bal Tashchit, do not waste. This solution helps people in need, and ensures that chametz products are not wasted.

The amount of goysplaining on this site over the last 30 hours following the Golders Green arson attack. Never have so many non-Jews explained so much about antisemitism to Jews. Is there any other minority group who gets lectured like this?

Zionismus = jüdische Selbstbestimmung. Antizionismus = gegen jüdische Selbstbestimmung. Nicht gegen die israelische Regierung, Krieg oder Besatzung. Du kannst nur Antizionist und kein Antisemit sein, wenn du glaubst, dass es gar keine Nationen geben sollte. Am schlimmsten finde ich, dass man direkt von jüdischen Menschen die Rückmeldung bekommt, man bewege sich in eine antisemitische Richtung, und Zustimmung aus dem rechtsextremen Lager, und trotzdem einfach sagt: "Nope".

Bei keiner anderen Minderheit ist die Deutungshoheit der nicht-Betroffenen höher. Ich kaufe diesen Leuten nicht ab, dass sie es nicht schaffen, die israelische Regierung zu kritisieren, ohne dabei jüdische Souveränität anzugreifen.
