كنتُ طفلًا يحفظ سور الإسلام في المدرسة
ويجمع العلامات كما تُجمع النقاط في لعبة لا يفهم قواعدها.
ثم كبِرتُ،
وانفتح العقل على الفلسفة كجُرحٍ من نور،
فانقلبتُ على كل ما ورثته،
وصرتُ علمانيًا، ثم لا أدريًا، ثم روحًا تبحث عن نفسها
بين ظلال بوذا وعقل سقراط.

لكن حين ارتفعت رايات الظلام فوق الشام،
شعرتُ بالخطر لا على جسدي، بل على جذوري.
رأيتُ كيف يتحوّل الفكر إلى سلاح،
وكيف تصير الهويّة درعًا للحياة لا قيدًا لها.

عندها فقط أدركتُ:

لا لأن الأساطير نادتني،

بل لأن البيئة التي أنبتتني
منحتني أغلى ما يمكن أن يُمنح لإنسان —
حرّية السؤال، وكرامة الشك.

أنا درزيّ
لا لأنني مؤمن بالتقمّص،
بل لأنني مؤمن بأن الروح لا تموت حين تفكّر.
أفتخر لا بالدم، بل بالفكر الذي تربّى في هذا الدم.

🚨 Urgent: Investigate Hate Speech — Call for Action 🚨

Belgium-based pundit Ahmed Kamel (@ahmadsaleem5) has published rhetoric that appears to justify mass violence against the #Druze of Syria — language that reads like a call to genocide after the July massacres in Suwayda.

Freedom of speech is fundamental — but it does not protect incitement to violence, hate speech, or calls for ethnic cleansing. We call on:

• #Belgian authorities and EU institutions to urgently review these statements and apply national & international hate-speech laws.
• Social platforms to enforce their policies and remove content that incites violence.
• Human-rights organizations to document, investigate, and press for accountability.

If this rhetoric goes unchecked, it fuels the same violence that has already devastated Suwayda. Justice, not silence.

The mountain of Sweida stands once again on the edge of catastrophe. The Druze community of Jabal al-Arab, guardians of Syria’s southern spine, now faces a converging storm of ISIS remnants, Al-Qaeda networks, and opportunistic militias encouraged by regional powers seeking a new front in a broken land. What is unfolding is an attempt to erase the people who have resisted both tyranny and extremism for over a century.

As Syria’s leadership flirts with foreign patrons in Ankara and Moscow, a dangerous equation is forming, one that could ignite a chain reaction reaching Israel’s northern border. If the Druze are targeted en masse, intervention will not be a question of politics but of proximity and survival. The lessons of October 7 are still raw because when ideology becomes extermination, defense becomes necessity.

The world must recognize what is at stake. Sweida is more than a province, it is a living testament to coexistence, autonomy, and faith surviving in the ruins of empire. To stand with the Druze today is to defend the last high ground of conscience in a region drowning in vengeance.
