Universities drive Canada’s economy by training skilled workers and supporting local businesses.
As MP @TurnbullWhitby noted in his speech at the @OurCommons, “Economies are, first and foremost, about people,” highlighting how @ontariotech_u Tech University grads help local businesses grow.
It’s a clear example of how Canada’s universities:
📈 power economic success
🤝 serve as community hubs, and
🌎🧑💼 attract the best and brightest
Top ranked research university of the year?! How about two years in a row!!
We are improving human lives and our planet through breakthroughs in every field. So proud of faculty, staff and students!! It’s our time to shine @ontariotech_u!! https://t.co/onbi0S9Dke
I was definitely guilty of this for a couple of years... and eventually learned that complexity without clarity only exposes the impostor syndrome.
As the author, you are one of the experts on this THING now, so write clearly because you have nothing to hide. (2/2)
📣 Help needed with research participants in Ontario, Canada! 📣
Do you work in the STEM field in Ontario, Canada? Or might you know someone who does? Me and @RozenRobyn are trying to disseminate a survey to student participants and are looking for contacts who might help us with this. Potential contacts might be teachers/instructors/tutors/staff members in STEM education at any university in Ontario. Student organisations and accessibility service contacts would also be helpful!
We are seeking student participants in a study about inclusive learning environments in university STEM education. We are particularly interested in the experiences of students with disabilities (note that the participants can use the terminology they prefer).
If you have contacts, do let me know! We cannot contact participants directly, but I can send a message and poster that can be posted to an LMS or sent to a student email list 😊 So, hopefully, inviting participants wouldn't take more than a minute of a potential contact's time!
Send me a message for any further details!
Thank you in advance! We really hope to develop important guidelines for a more inclusive futures of STEM education!
A great evening reception to start @space_canada Spacebound last night. Attending with my @ontariotech_u@OT_FBIT faculty member @pooria_mdn . Both Pooria and I are presenting on panels at SpaceBound on Wednesday for cybersecurity(Pooria) and Global Partnerships(Carolyn). #AI4HW
@OT_VPResearch Thank you Ewa, Daniel and the whole team for all your hard work, support, questions answered, and all the stuff we never hear about because you are that amazing!!!
Our chapter with @RozenRobyn on the importance of belonging for postdoctoral fellows has been made Open Access until 21 Oct 2024! 😊 How could postdocs feel 'belonging' in the precarious job markets of academia? Grab yourself a PDF file from here: https://t.co/uP6TBmVUhA
Woohoo, I finally have my own copy of Building Communities in Academia! Huge thanks to Melina Aarnikoivu and @aitamlp for editing this exciting book. I'm happy to see our chapter with @RozenRobyn out there – it's about a sense of belonging to academia as a postdoctoral fellow 🤓

Saying "there is one way to arrange zero objects" is the perfect example of sentence that makes sense to a mathematician but not to a person. I like it
You know what the biggest problem with pushing all-things-AI is? Wrong direction.
I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.
What an excellent new paper by Milagros Castillo-Montoya and Manuel Madriaga: 'Decolonizing assessment of learning in higher education: the journey ahead' - a much needed critical voice on the matters of assessment and inclusion in higher ed! https://t.co/b77iE9q5yS

Just had a paper accepted, which means it's once again time to embarrass myself by posting data on time to acceptance and the number of rejections each piece received before getting to yes.
