My position is that gender dysphoria is a real, painful condition and that for some adults, the only way they may feel able to resolve that inner conflict is transition. If that’s the road they choose I wish them long life and happiness and I would vigorously oppose any discrimination against them when it comes to employment, housing or voting rights.

I do not believe children have the capacity to consent to treatments that may leave them infertile and, in some cases, anorgasmic. Multiple studies have shown that gender dysphoria in childhood and adolescence is not uncommon, for gay kids particularly, but it also occurs in, for example, straight girls who hate the idea of becoming women and sometimes, tragically, in children who’ve been abused. The available evidence shows that in the majority of cases, gender dysphoria resolves after the person has gone through adolescence. I am strongly opposed to the experimental treatment of blocking puberty in dysphoric children. I believe trans activists have behaved hugely unethically and irresponsibly in pretending that there is good evidence that these treatments are beneficial (there isn’t), that puberty blockers are completely reversible (there is a mounting body of evidence to suggest they aren’t) or that children are likely to kill themselves if denied blockers (there is no evidence to support this and suicide prevention charities warn against making such statements, due to the very real danger of suicide contagion.)

Of course, not all trans-identified people are dysphoric. Erotic transvestism, also known as autogynephilia, (getting a sexual thrill out of dressing as/pretending to be a woman) has been around for a very long time. I believe lesbians are entitled to exclude straight, cross-dressing men from their dating pools without being accused of bigotry and worse (same goes for gay men with trans-identified women). It’s profoundly homophobic to attack gay people for being same-sex attracted.

I don’t believe anyone, adult or child, is ‘born in the wrong body.’ That is an unfalsifiable, quasi-religious belief. A person may *feel* as if they’re in the wrong body, but humans cannot literally change sex. However they identify, men don’t belong in the single-sex spaces for which women fought so hard.

@cornu__copia I'm pretty sure women didn't wear closed underwear like today before the 20th century. They just had lots of underskirts. So all they had to do was squat. It must have been even easier to do than today, isn't that the whole point of wearing skirts?

Prostitution in Hungary and the sex trafficking of Hungarian women and girls

“… In Hungary, prostitution largely operates with the same dynamics as elsewhere. An interview with senior police officer, Krisztina Balogh, paints a grim picture. Sexual exploitation is the most common form of human trafficking and victims are typically 16–24 year-old girls and women. This is not surprising considering that today sex trafficking is one of the most profitable criminal acts and the younger the victim, the more profit the trafficker can hope for.

Sex traffickers target emotionally vulnerable young people – particularly those from orphanages – and homeless and disabled people. Once under the control of the traffickers, victims find themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place. Prostitution can mean survival and so the possibility of exit can become unimaginable – meaning that they are unlikely to report abuse or try to escape. Besides these dynamics, traffickers typically work in organized crime networks and use threats to keep the victims in check.

From the police perspective, investigating the crime of trafficking is challenging. In many cases even the victims do not realise that they are victims. Sometimes a victim comes to the police to report something else and gradually it emerges that the person is trafficked. The police have insufficient resources to be able to make much impact on these criminal dynamics.

Hungary is a source and transit country for sex trafficking victims, but due to the low average income and grey policing, it’s not the most profitable for traffickers. In the past, most victims were sold abroad, but now this has reduced to around 60%. Illegal migration in the last years has not changed the situation much, generally both the traffickers and victims are Hungarian.

Hungary is the third highest country in Europe in terms of numbers of sex trafficking victims – Romania and Bulgaria are first and second, respectively.

The target countries are those where prostitution is legalized, which shows that legalization empowers traffickers more than almost anything else.

According to an interview with Ágnes Németh (a colonel in the Hungarian police force) the biggest target country for Hungarian victims is Germany, where prostitution is legal, the average income is much higher and borders are easily accessible for Hungarian citizens…”

The cost of Western Europe’s rampant prostitution: the genocide of Romanian women

“Romania has become the number one European source country of children and women in the brothels in Germany and Holland, and also Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Greece and the UK.

Even though the total population of Romania is only about 19 million, there are thousands of Romanian women and children forced into street prostitution in Italy alone – and that’s not counting those in strip clubs, brothels and ‘escort’ prostitution. It’s estimated that there are similar numbers in Spain, the UK, Germany, and Holland – and that’s not considering those in the Arab world and on other continents.

Romania has haemorrhaged more than a million children (girls and boys) and women into the prostitution trade in these countries.

In countries where prostitution is legal, like Germany, only a small percentage of the women involved are locals. German women do not take up this kind of ‘work’ en masse. (Should we wonder why it’s so off-putting?). But the demand is huge – so they outsource to countries like mine.”
