Ants can have a very different design than an elephant could. Very easy to bury low voltage lines. Very difficult and costly to bury higher voltage lines and it introduces a host of problems. Is it crazy that in this year of our lord, we don’t have a cure for the common cold, jet packs, perpetual motion machines and we can’t get all our nutrition from a pill?
I like Roth. I would be better off if I had the option earlier and leaned more into it when it was available. (Mostly I did 50/50). They are not the same at all if you have good success with investments. Roths save you IRMA’s and loss of other MAGA determined costs and benefits (Obama Care). Roth immune from future tax rate changes. Tax rate changes include death of spouse and potential future tax increases. Even without tax changes inflation with stock growth pushes you to higher brackets for same lifestyle. If your life will be more modest in retirement maybe Roth isn’t for you. Otherwise clear benefits.
Anyone with a good grasp of probability and statistics should realize how this is beneficial in making decisions and sense of the world. Going further, for example a background with differential equations might help many understand the great challenges asynchronous renewable generation present for the grid, instead of believing things somehow magically will workout.
@ChrisMartzWX Paying for X because it provides value, despite having problems with other things involving the owner, seems to be a principled position. Much more integrity who take a free ride because the judge the providers as unworthy.
Payback for high earners is minimal, for medium earners a bit better, but very good at the lower incomes. The idea that what we put in is gone is easy to overuse. Where did it go? It paid for other things the government thought were priorities. What about infrastructure that benefits all. Current generations benefited from what previous generations put int the system. Think infrastructure like roadways, parks, defense ….Denying someone a return of 25% (total) payback on a retirement program they were forced to participate because you have to put some money in seems small.
Naively, I figured you’d always be here. But your choices make sense. You will be missed. I am almost always thinking of one more posting myself (current one - how tribalism hurts energy policy), but like you I find that retirement is filled with competing options such that it’s probably time to move on. There’s enough information out there for those who want to be educated. Best wishes.
Taking you seriously, it seems from context she was referring to what most folks call World War 2. If not, which war might she be referring to as she spoke of World War Eleven? If she did mean the war we think she did, are there any academic schemes of note where the major conflict of traditionally known as WWII is identified as the eleventh world war?
@M_Hadrian_@allenanalysis The average can be skewed by a few super wealthy people. The median is literally the person in the middle, thus not skewed by the particulars of any extreme values,
