As I read Mexican Whiteboy, I connected with Danny- straddling 2 worlds: Mexican & white for him and Asian & white for me. Made me think of Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders- he doesn't quite fit in w/the greasers- a common theme among many students #ENGL7711
A great school friendly (esp middle school) article to accompany the novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. https://t.co/nF8Sn9AWj8

Just finished The Alchemist and thought the lessons learned from the book would make a great graduation speech https://t.co/NeKPWgbIeH

I watched Wind River last night which reminded me of Woman at Point Zero. Both discuss the unfair treatment of women, but Wind River is happening in the United States. https://t.co/BThDQK4Jjs

@eritterkennesaw When Firdaus's uncle's wife said, "A virtuous woman was not supposed to complain about her husband. Her duty was perfect obedience" (p. 59) made me think about Ephesians 5:22 and how some can twist that verse.
How many times have we seen Firdaus- a "pebble which someone had tossed into its waters, rolling along with the crowds that rode in buses and cars, or walked the streets, with unseeing eyes..." (p.55) and have done nothing? #WomanatPointZero#ENGL7711
Pairing this article with McCormick's novel Sold is great way to get our students to realize it can happen to them or kids they know https://t.co/GTONdWzaNY #ENGL7711
Finished Sold by P .McCormick. I have always thought sex trafficking was something that occurred in faraway places. But it's not. We need to start talking with our students about it- just like this school in Johns Creek. https://t.co/SCJdq8vQbG #ENGL7711
