The second stop of Day 2 of the #PilgrimageForABetterFuture took participants to the Golden State Annex, an expansion to Mesa Verde ICE Processing Facility. We shared a prayer with the powerful women who are farmworkers by day and resistors by night.

They shared their stories with us and expressed how they have changed their lives and are continuing to fight to do so. They have experienced the same discrimination and exclusion. The same pain and fear of being separated from their families. The same trauma.

Yesterday we gathered outside of Mesa Verde in Bakersfield,CA and came together through prayer, chants, and sharing testimonies. Although outside a different detention facility, we continue to see and hear the same things.

It’s been 2 yrs since people detained at Mesa Verde and Golden State Annex have been able to visit with their families. Detained immigrants in Kern are advocating for a lift on the visitation ban.
It’s time to #reinstatevisitation as we continue the fight to #FreeThemAll all!

Those being detained inside Mesa Verde Detention Center have gone 2 full years now without being able to see their loved ones. There are ways for ICE to safely reinstate visitation and they must do just that.
