@ODEONCinemas
Dear Odeon,
Your hatfield galleria cinema is licensed but you don't offer free drinking water. Think you may wish to look into this ASAP.
@jeremyjsharp @jackbern23 No one ever said it did. The original tweet was about the federal government. Supermajorities exist in many countries and are not defined as 2/3rds but simply as greater than a simple majority. A cloture vote requires a supermajority
@jeremyjsharp @jackbern23 Supermajority has many meanings including overriding executive veto (as I wrote in the original reply). Cloture used to require 2/3rds of the Senate. The 60 senator number is now more often used due the proliferation of the filibuster
@jackbern23 I would have gone on to write about supermajorities in terms of amendments and the Senate trial following impeachment. All this proves your point though: the term is meaningless in UK politics
@jackbern23 Hi Jack,
Supermajority generally refers to having enough Senators to vote for cloture to overturn a filibuster, I.e. 60 Senators. This only matters if the same party has the House and the Presidency. It can also mean having two thirds of both Houses to overturn a veto.
@RoryStewartUK Sunak was the more polished, and through being more succinct, it felt like he was interrupted less. He was also lying more. Starmer had to not totally screw it up, and he didn’t, which is why the bookies have shorted Labour. Tories to get 50 to 99 seats is now favourite
@RoyalCaribbean Almost 2 hours. I've hung up, as your office hours are purportedly 10 to 5. This, by the way, was after emailing about the issue, which I haven't had a reply to. Extraordinarily poor.
90 minutes now… if the office isn’t open on Sundays, why is it advertised as such? If it is open, why is there no answer? Given me time to explore @RoyalCaribbean holidays, which may be useful
