Especially when it has to do with a self aware person. They observe, they communicate, they make excuses for you, and sometimes give you time to get things right without even telling you. But when they finally get tired, they’ve already started detaching long before you even notice.

We’re thrilled to announce the newest member of our San Antonio Zoo family! Aluna and Sol, our two-toed sloths, welcomed an adorable baby on October 25, marking the first sloth born at San Antonio Zoo since 2010! Both mom and baby are doing well and already stealing hearts across our Zoo Crew!
The first month of a baby sloth’s life is an important time for growth and development as they build the strength to cling to mom and adjust to their new surroundings. Our dedicated veterinary and animal care teams have been closely monitoring Aluna and her little one, providing attentive care and support during these early days. We’re excited to celebrate this special milestone as mom and baby continue to bond and settle in.
Aluna and Sol are part of our Animal Ambassador Team, meaning her habitat is behind the scenes. She occasionally makes appearances at special events and surprise visits with guests, but for now, mom and baby are enjoying some much-needed privacy as they bond and settle in.
Two-toed sloths are native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, where they spend most of their lives hanging upside down in trees! These slow-moving mammals play an important role in rainforest ecosystems, and their survival depends on healthy forest habitats. With deforestation and habitat loss threatening wildlife across their native range, protecting tropical rainforests is essential to securing a future for sloths and countless other species.
Join us in sending lots of love to Aluna, Sol and their adorable new bundle of joy! 🦥
A note to Democrats, based on mistakes we’ve seen here in the U.K.: assume these votes have been lent to you, not given. Now govern in such a way that you earn them. Then, perhaps, they will stay with you.
Whether this is a temporary wave or a permanent change? On you.
