@Suitpossum Not in Brazil. We have PIX, an instant payment system free of charge to natural people powered by the Central Bank of Brazil. My 7yr old daughter recently sold lemonade using PIX, the money went directly to her own account with zero fees. Many homeless people accept PIX too.

@TeamYouTube My Chromecast Gen2 rarely streams 1080p to my TV at first. Tv is 1080p, 30Mbps on nerd stats, 1080p works on mobile. If I disconnect the Chromecast, watch some seconds on my phone on 1080p, then cast again on Chromecast, it streams 1080p right from the start. Bug?

@TeamYouTube The Chromecast viewport stat shows that the device correctly identified a 1080p capable TV. Why would the Chromecast consider 480p the optimal res when the YouTube video is 1080p and it detected a 1080p tv and more than 30Mbps of bandwidth available?

@TeamYouTube Yes, my TV supports 1080p and the Chromecast correctly reports a 1080p TV, as you can see at the viewport parameter at the nerd stats photo I sent.

@madebygoogle I did everything and it is still the same. Chromecast reports lots of bandwidth (connection speed 20Mbps) and it correctly identified the tv as 1080 (viewport 1280x720*1.50). No apparent reason to consider 480p the optimal resolution.

@madebygoogle No. Netflix is 1080p all the time. Chromecast detects that I have more than enough bandwidth and a 1080p TV, but it never changes the resolution from 480p on YouTube videos unless I do the trick.

@madebygoogle Yes. My Chromecast gen2 rarely casts YouTube videos on 1080p. It starts on 480p and does not change to a higher resolution for the entire video. I can watch an hour long video and it will stay on 480p. But doing the trick I mentioned, it casts on 1080p right from the start.

@TeamYouTube Thanks for the answer. The issue is that my Chromecast never changes to a higher resolution once it has started on a low resolution unless I do this trick.

Disconnected chromecast from YouTube, watched some seconds on my phone, wait until it reaches 1080p. Reconnect Chromecast. Voila: 1080p...
