Balloon Viewer is a tool I built in Go with GTK from the GNOME stack, and it’s been making balloon optimization for our Langrisser III translation a lot faster. It lets me preview the real layout constraints while I work on the dialogue.
@NightWolve75@CDRomance_Spike I think the Windows release is more important right now. The Saturn version is mainly useful for paving the way for the other games. Your Windows results look excellent. I hope I can run it on Linux with Wine/Proton, hehe.
Adapting the Japanese tiles into bigrams while still keeping the text readable without breaking the audio and other parts of the game is pretty complicated.
5 days ago @rsguth released v0.4 of their Langrisser III translation. The entire script has been translated for 10 years but nobody had figured out the romhacking part, until now.
However, the game is not fully playable yet due to a hang! the reinsertion logic seems to be correct this time at least.
If anyone wants to take a look all the info is publicly available here: https://t.co/9m9GJLnQ81
@CDRomance_Spike Thank you very much for sharing it. I’m not very experienced with ROM hacking, and thanks to VermilionDesserts we ended up with a build that’s much better than mine. I’ll be uploading this version to GitHub soon.
@NightWolve75@CDRomance_Spike Wow, this version is much better than the builds I was able to make with the Saturn version. Using a font like that is way better than manually doing word wrap in the Saturn text with bigrams.
