@DGlaucomflecken Insurance denies MRIs on me all the time. About 3 years ago, an unnamed company denied an MRI on a 12 year old who was forward antalgic and had an onion skinning periosteal reaction on a vertebra on X-ray. I sent them to ER…kid had a Ewing’s sarcoma from T5-L2.
@SamTheATC Complete formation of a right sided cervical rib at the C7 level. There is also left sided transverse process hypertrophy at C7. Correlate clinically.
@ATCanonymous 1) long hours leading to no work-life balance. 2) no sense of accomplishment with work. 3) generally unhappy with my life so I needed a change.
@ATCanonymous Yes. Will to PRN AT work from time to time. I also do work at powerlifting/strongman contests as both a chiropractor and AT, depending on the contest.
@grahamwalker Chiro here. Ordering low back MRI for pt with true radicular pain and drop foot with loss of sensation in one foot. Insurance denied the pre-auth because of lack of medical necessity and I should try treating for 6 weeks. Had already been seeing them for 6 wks no improvement
@ATCanonymous How about calling the DC? Ask them why. The state practice act for the DCs as well as your high school athletic association will help determine if you can accept that note. Where I am, I can write the note, but 45 minutes down the road in another state, I can’t.
@ATCanonymous The best of us miss stuff. I’ve been certified for 9 years even have other advanced certifications. I missed a complete pec tear on a strongman athlete at an international comp and let them finish the comp. Athlete did tell me they wouldn’t have stopped if I told him. It happens
@ATCanonymous Depending on the state, the chiropractic license will read “physician” and they are required to display themselves as such. That’s how it is where I am. Does it mean we can do the same as MD/DO in prescribing/procedures/etc, no. It’s simply the way the laws are written.
@ATCanonymous Immediately after worked in clubhouse management at a AAA baseball team, then sold shoes at a NIKE store for a total of about 7 months before starting chiropractor school. Now I have a DC degree and specialize in strength athletes
@Cgalindo1023 @SamTheATC basically, whatever is at the other end of that structure is not getting the blood or nerve supply that is should, or at least less than it should.
@Cgalindo1023 @SamTheATC Then we have the nerve and circulation aspects. I’ll keep it brief here. Think of the IVF. There are a lot of structures here that are very delicate to pressure. If any amount of pressure (not directly by the bond but by other tissues, I call it tension to my pts) then (3)
