"Seattle's gang violence problem is getting worse. This is an issue of statewide significance. @MayorofSeattle Katie Wilson appears to lack the critical-thinking skills to understand the scope of the problem. And current @GovBobFerguson is stubbornly unwilling to admit his central role in creating this crisis.

"Last night, there was what appears to have been a gang-related shooting during the Bite of Seattle event at Seattle Center. But the gangsters—true to form—were sloppy and undisciplined in their actions. They shot several innocent bystanders who were there to sample food. Two bystanders were killed and several more injured, including a two-year-old child.

"@WAGOP wishes God’s grace to the loved ones of those who’ve departed this life and a speedy recovery to the wounded.

"Shockingly, Wilson and Ferguson appear to have instructed the @SeattlePD not to brief the media on the details of the gang violence for five hours after it happened. One SPD officer was caught on camera telling reporters that no briefing would take place until 'dignitaries' arrived.

"In the meantime, Wilson's office embarrassed itself by releasing an error-filled written statement that had to be withdrawn and corrected. When, the 'dignitaries' finally showed up on the scene, they parroted poorly written cliches about 'gun violence' that ignored what police officers and reporters already knew.

"Wilson and Ferguson's slow response last night is an embarrassment for everyone in Washington. It's a bad sign that elected public servants in our state consider themselves 'dignitaries,' who keep the people waiting while staffers prepare misleading talking points that the 'dignitaries' then read incompetently."

"Washington has a growing gang violence problem that Wilson and Ferguson's soft-on-crime policies make worse. These ‘dignitaries’ need to stop spinning, acknowledge their multiple failures, and work with common-sense lawmakers to fix what's broken in our state."

NEW: The person who harassed two Charlie Kirk supporters before celebrating his death at a farmers market in Issaquah, Washington, has been identified as Kelsey Ballin, a school nurse at Eastlake High School.
