@dabit3 I’m building demand projection modelling systems for cultural events like live music so that they can improve the sustainability of their businesses.
@justKDeng Building a demand modelling system for live music and cultural events - have some tough problems that a probabilistic distribution model could help solve!
@DavidPocock This is the right approach and not being talked about enough. Ro Khanna’s proposal for section 230 protections to only be available for non-algorithmic feeds should be applied in Australia - liability for harms caused by algorithmic content selection + algos off by default.
@DannyDaze This program matches tracks via existing metadata or via a Shazam-like service to Discogs and another online database to correct metadata: https://t.co/0xCGYuGOPE
@midlandsound In Apple Music you can upload your own library (100,000 max tracks) and stream them like they were on the service. Only platform that has this functionality rn.
@jenkimgal @MrRexPatrick@JEChalmers Don’t be too disappointed, while Rex has been a great advocate against government secrecy, his vote for the Libs change to lib arts degrees in exchange for money for Adelaide unis will have negative ramifications for generations.
@imKelbin Sounds like this was the action of Epic, not necessarily Songtradr. Maybe wait for further details from the Bandcamp Union about negotiations with Songtradr before declaring guilt.
@imKelbin Can you elaborate on that? I have no contact with them, but the founder is a friend’s uncle. No idea about current business practices, but didn’t seem to shady the times I met Paul.
@aerielist DJs like Djrum, Danny Daze, DJ Bone etc who combine both tempo-matched blends and scratching are where it’s at imo. I don’t need a scratch routine on every mix, but having it as a tool in the skill set leads to dope outcomes.
@aerielist Scratch DJing is more conducive to hip-hop and combinations of genres with less intro time for mixing, more vocals, and larger bpm differences that sound worse when tempo-matched.
