@KenningtonRUN@nytimes 26 days occupancy for 9 minute show. Local roads clogged with limos, cycle super highways closed for parked (and idling) coaches. For £13k to park. Pitiful.
@VVFriedman Well it’s only taken them 26 days to put the “tent” up so they should be ready. And a late start too as no one can get in. An organisational disaster.
@PeterClaydon@kennington 9 minute fashion show for Burberry. Estimated income for Lambeth £100k. Just £13k to the park. For 26 DAYS occupancy. No public consultation. Their own events guidelines not followed. No response from Events or Ward Councillors.
@gideondefoe@lambeth_council@clairekholland There’s a lot of what ifs and speculation. Inevitable when Lambeth are deliberately evasive. The telephone number for events displayed on site rings for 6 MINUTES before the answerphone kicks in. Umpteen messages left. No response at all.
@gideondefoe@lambeth_council@clairekholland A fashion industry contact informs me Burberry’s expense on this could reach high six figure mark. It’s the debut show for their new Creative Director so a lot riding on it. Models’ fees alone could exceed the park’s share of receipts.
@gideondefoe@lambeth_council@clairekholland The whole event could have been held on the currently out of action Astro Turf - direct access from main road for vehicles, no damage to grass and no incursion on the park. But that would require a bit of creative thinking on Lambeth’s part.
@edjeff It’s a 9 minute fashion show for Burberry. Income to council £100k. Income for park £13k. For 26 DAYS hire. That works out at £20 an hour. To hire the Astro Turf for an hour costs £125. But that’s just locals who want to play sport, not a £multi million luxury brand so that’s OK
@neilcollingridg@KenningtonRUN@lambeth_council A show lasting 9 minutes! Revenue to council believed to be £100k. Income for park £13k for 26 DAYS of lost amenity. I’m finding it hard to be grateful.
@MsMarlboroLites@KenningtonRUN Mine too. But can’t register a complaint as their database won’t accept postcodes from the Southwark side of the border. Sound is, after all, famous for screeching to a halt when confronted with imaginary boundaries.
@KenParkFriends@lambeth_council Rang the number given for Events in the notices on the site. Rings for 6 MINUTES before answerphone clicks in. Messages left. No reponse. No response to emails from them, 3 councillors or, alas, FOKP.
@KenningtonRUN A friend of mine who works in fashion etc, told me the event is for Burberry and that the model agency’s casting director is a friend of his who flew in from NYC this morning. My mate said the model fee alone would cost £17k, so the park is an absolute steal.
