Nice walk along the bridgewater canal in Runcorn earlier today. Several kingfishers spotted which didn’t stay still for pictures, but the same can’t be said about this fox on the opposite bank to me @RSPBLiverpool
Right place right time! Was already at Marshside this am watching hen harriers, when news of the white-winged tern/white-rumped sandpiper came in. Unfortunately the sandpiper had flown off, but the tern was sat on one of the Crossens pools, very satisfying lifer @RSPBLiverpool
Ended the day with a post Sunday Roast walk with the dog at Lunt Meadows. Fairly quiet but made up to find 14 (presumably fresh in) bugling Whooper Swans 😍
Afternoon at Britannia Inn was a lot better than I could have expected! Grey Phalarope, Great N Diver (📹), Manx Shearwater (📹), Leach’s Petrel, 2 1w Little Gull alongside 2 Merlin (📹), 3 Swallow and surprising amount of passerines crossing the #Mersey
Only taken me 10+ years of birdwatching the north west, but today I can finally say I’ve seen Wirral leach’s petrels! For once the winds matched me having nothing on, and I managed to see 3 between new brighton/Leasowe. Bonus of a very close great skua at Leasowe @RSPBLiverpool
Stuff still moving on the #Mersey from the Britannia Inn. Just found a Grey Phalarope on the deck, plus single Leach’s, 2 1w Little Gull and Com Scoter 😁 #SeabirdSunday is pretty good 😁
Didn’t have time to get to #patchbirding so headed to the Britannia Inn just before 7am hoping for #seabirds. Single Euro Storm Petrel, 3 Leach’s, 2 Common Scoter and this cracking Little Gull before I had to shoot home for an early kick off….could be worse 😁 #MerseyBirding

An excellent morning with the Gulls on the Mersey sandbanks produced an adult and 1st winter Caspian Gull and an adult Yellow-legged Gull. Later at WSR recycling in Widnes a smart 2nd winter Yellow-legged gull...lovely #birding#Cheshire#Gulls#Caspo
The 1stw Grey Phalarope at Crosby Marine Park, Merseyside, was typically confiding today. Here it is checking out GT. A fantastic bird @BirdGuides#autumnbirding#greyphalarope
Liverpool…….a fantastic day on the North Wirral coast finished across the river at Crosby Marine lake.
Point blank views of Grey Phalarope, 3 Black Terns over Seaforth NR and a late Swift sp over the south end of the marine lake.
Couple of hours joining the #LeachsPetrel party. A great time spent, thanks for the spotting company Mark(?).
This one survived the attention of a persistent gull by diving for the hard deck! (top gun😀)👏👏.

Didn’t manage to try and any sea watching with work, but did just about mange to find the time to nose it to Crosby marine lake for the grey phalarope. Almost the exact same spot as the only other one I’ve ever seen (back in 2018), this one also showed brilliantly @RSPBLiverpool
Kingfisher again at fairy glen this morning. Landed pretty close to me and didn’t seem to notice at first. Hopefully it knocks around all winter @RSPBLiverpool@ILoveSeftonPark
