Poison is good pretty rarely, but other status effects that actually effect Stats I always find useful.

I think maybe Pokémon conditions people to ignore that stuff? Not sure.

I think the problem is just that. The game is designed in a way that is not very fun. You bind crouch to a button you can reach easier and you've got the the gameplay down pat.
