Following the tour of West Kingston on Friday, a community meeting was held with residents and local stakeholders to provide updates and share information on ongoing and planned development work in the area.
The session focused on outlining the current condition of key infrastructure, including housing, roads, and water and sewer systems, as well as the steps being taken to address these challenges.
The engagement was centred on keeping the community informed, strengthening transparency, and ensuring clarity on the work underway to improve living conditions in West Kingston.
#TransportFuelPrices We have provided Billions in protection for Jamaicans during this energy crisis.
Between March 12 and April 8, 2026, transport fuel prices rose by about J$49.20 per litre, but only J$18 was passed on to consumers due to the government’s pricing cap.
The remaining cost was absorbed by Petrojam to cushion households and businesses. That is a buffer of about US$8.6 million (J$1.3–1.4 billion) worth of protection that this Government has provided for Jamaicans during this energy crisis.
State Minister and MP for Trelawny Southern Marisa Dalrymple Philibert reminded the Opposition that Jamaica’s recovery must come before partisan politics.
Over the past few months, we have been working to transform the Kintyre Community Centre and Sports Complex into a space that truly serves the needs of the community.
Through the combined efforts of my team, my foundation, Save Our Boys and Girls, our partners including Direct Relief and JSIF, and support from the Government, we’ve introduced an improved play area, upgraded football field, multipurpose sports court, and solar lighting, along with solar power to ensure the centre can function as a reliable emergency shelter when needed.
This is what community development looks like, creating safe, functional, and empowering spaces for families, young people, and the wider community.
“I think the design and engineering that we used for the perimeter road, and also what we’re using for the Long Hill Bypass, are so much different from what we traditionally use. They have been built in resilience.”
The Opposition has raised concerns about capital expenditure and the structure of government ministries, but the facts tell a different story.
Over the last four budgets, the Ministry of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development has consistently delivered, averaging over 97% utilisation of its capital allocation.
The real challenges we face are systemic, lengthy approvals, procurement delays, and limited contractor capacity. These are the very bottlenecks we are actively addressing to unlock faster growth and greater national development.
Despite it all, Jamaica has experienced one of its most sustained periods of infrastructure expansion and economic stability in decades, including 20 consecutive quarters of growth before the global disruption of COVID-19.
We acknowledge that growth must be higher. But context matters. Consistency matters. And Jamaica is no longer defined by stop-start progress, we are building a resilient, stable economy with a strong foundation for the future.
What an ending to an enlightening conference.
I wish to thank the government of Guyana for their gracious hospitality.
The travel to the interior of Guyana was breathtaking and it was amazing to visit the Kaieteur Falls.
NATURE IN ITS GLORY!!!!
Several years ago we sat in the same staff room at Excelsior High School as teachers, today we sit together in the same office at the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and information as policy makers. Our mission remains the same; working towards leaving the education system better than we found it. #AlwaysJamaicaFirst
57 years later!!! Hear from a constituent who I ran into in Trowers yesterday during my visit to the community to inspect the works being carried out. This is Road number 55 under my RoadAFix programme. #ChangingLives#OurManchesterCentral#RhodaDeliversAgain#AlwaysWorking

My first time back this side of Jamaica since Melissa.
It was a relief to see green again and trees standing tall not like they were a few months ago buckled, brown and broken from the category 5 pounding winds of Melissa. Yes,there are some signs of people trying to get back to normal with roof repairs, but we are blessed.
Works on Aries Avenue in St. Andrew North Central, represented by Member of Parliament Delano Seiveright, is nearing completion under the SPARK Programme.
Residents in the Smokey Vale community will soon benefit from a newly rehabilitated roadway designed to last, supporting smoother movement through the area.

That set is really fortunate that my time at the wicket is at an end, because it surely would be the most uncomfortable of times for them. Believe me on that.
