Learning Together, Growing Together – RT-Thread's University Partnerships
RT-Thread is an open-source embedded real-time operating system, and we have always been deeply grateful for the trust and participation of the developer community. In our journey so far, we have been fortunate to receive strong support from China’s academic community. At present, we have had the privilege of working alongside nearly 200 universities across the country, exploring ways to integrate education with industry. These collaborations have taken shape in various forms—including curriculum design, joint laboratory projects, teacher development programs, certification initiatives, and career pathways for students—and we continue to learn from each partnership.
Looking beyond our home market, we are equally humbled by the encouragement we have received from institutions in Southeast Asia. Since 2025, with the generous backing of local governments and academic bodies in Thailand, we have had the opportunity to cooperate with several respected universities. We were honored to co-organize workshops with institutions such as Thammasat University, Mahidol University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, and the Royal Society of Thailand. These experiences have not only broadened our perspective but also reinforced our belief that open-source growth is a shared journey, driven by mutual learning and community goodwill.
On August 1, our team had the pleasure of visiting Malaysia and signing a cooperation agreement with Wawasan Open University (WOU). We were also fortunate to meet with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), and UCSI University. In our discussions, we explored possible collaboration on RT-Thread-based curriculum development, application projects, and joint lab setups. We are grateful for the interest and openness shown by these institutions, and we look forward to learning and growing together through future partnerships.
This visit has been a meaningful step in our ongoing efforts to connect with universities around the world. We truly believe that the future of any ecosystem lies in the energy and ideas of young developers, and we are honored to have the chance to engage with academic communities in Malaysia. Beyond the agreements we signed, we see this as a small but sincere commitment to supporting local education and technology in whatever way we can. We are also in discussion with a few more universities, and we hope to share more news before long.We believe an ecosystem thrives because of the passion and curiosity of each individual developer. As RT-Thread continues to expand its global ecosystem, we are committed to connecting with universities, developers, and industry partners worldwide to promote open-source embedded technology, cultivate engineering talent, and accelerate innovation in intelligent systems.

The collaboration was officially launched with the RT-Thread × @Infineon Edgi Talk Workshop, hosted at Wawasan Open University. During the workshop, participants explored the development of Edge AI applications through hands-on practice, gaining experience with intelligent embedded systems, AI inference, IoT connectivity, and real-time operating systems.
