A new low-point from the Covid Inquiry today in what should have been a crucial evidence session with the questioning of Nadhim Zahawi, Vaccines Minister during the pandemic.

Instead we were treated to the clearest indication yet of @covidinquiryuk's complete lack of curiosity in exploring ethical and legal issues relating to the roll-out, many of which are serious, some of which involve children. The Inquiry's entire line of questioning was yet again based on its pre-determination that the vaccine programme was a success and that as a result the Inquiry would only be 'focusing on a small number of issues'–– an astonishing statement.

How can the Inquiry hope to learn any meaningful lessons when it's predicated on the view the whole thing was a great success?

‼️Really shocking testimony from this morning's Covid Inquiry: Sajid Javid, UK Secretary of State for Health during the key period of the pandemic, was unaware of the existence of the Yellow Card reporting scheme.

As Anna Morris KC acerbically points out, whilst Ministers and @DHSCgovuk held daily meetings for the purpose of driving the vaccine project forward, the Health Minister was oblivious about the existence centre-piece system for reporting adverse reactions.

How?!

It's incredible to see so many justify the smoking ban because they think that it's a 'disgusting' habit.

So do I! But we live in a country where people can choose to indulge in disgusting habits.

Choose being the key word.
