@JHWeissmann@katie_honan I commute to Philadelphia for work. For what I pay in rent for 1br in Manhattan I could have a mansion in Philly. Philadelphia is nice. I like Philly. I could be content in Philly. But I'm only truly happy in New York. I have an irrational attachment to place. Economists hate me.
@katie_honan@JHWeissmann Yes, exactly. You have a whole row house. But you're in...Baltimore. People who don't love New York will never understand the famous Updike quote: "The true New Yorker secretly believes that people living anywhere else have to be, in some sense, kidding."
I'm livid and distraught about @washingtonpost layoffs today. Sports was daily reading for me as a kid. I've been a subscriber in some form or another since I was 18. It's like the death in the family. And Bezos pulled the trigger.
@NickiJhabvala I grew up in DC now live in NYC. The only reason I pay for online Post subscription is to keep up with my hometown sports teams. I plan to drop my subscription if Post drops Sports. I wonder how many people there are out there like me?
@dcsportsbog@PostSports I grew up reading Wilbon, Kornheiser and Boswell. I'm convinced reading the sports page every day as a kid helped me learn to read. I loved your DC Sports Bog. I'm so upset about this news. Just know you all made a lot of people's lives a little better and more interesting.
@grantpaulsen I suspect that most people who don't like bad weather games are gamblers who desire reduced variability so they can indulge in their compulsion. A compulsion that is ruining sports for all of us.
@MarkZuckerman@JonHeyman Itโs hard to care about this team anymore. Every time they develop a halfway decent player, they trade him. How long before we trade all these prospects for new prospects.
