Will Ridley Scott get to make Gladiator III?

The project is moving forward under Scott’s enthusiasm. He's repeatedly confirmed it is in process right now and that he has begun working on the script, having the first 8 pages as early as 2024.

Scott sees the project as a continuation inspired by The Godfather Part II, focusing on Paul Mescal’s character Lucius Verus navigating power and legacy.

Paramount has not officially greenlit the film yet, even though reports in late 2024 or early 2025 pointed to principal photography potentially starting in 2026 in Malta and/or Morocco.

Paul Mescal is expected to reprise his role as Lucius.
