In the case at hand, the word of the accused stood against the word of the verdict. Normally, we would find the accused not guilty - in dubio pro reo. Is the use of a lie detector simply a method to "justify" a discharge? Surely, the accused does not face open speculation now./ph
A German local court recently used a polygraph and found the accused not guilty of child abuse. The use of lie detectors should not be taken lightly - they do not show "truth" but bodily reactions that can not simply be "read". /ph
