@Starkville70s Legislature shorted the university for construction costs. I always heard that a former chemistry professor made up the difference anonymously. Administration moved from Lee Hall because of deteriorating conditions. There were air conditioning window units in building.

@Starkville70s The late night date ham and cheese or stromboli sandwich split for two was a real favorite. Crust really made the pizza no matter what toppings. What was of interest was the proprietor was only person in Starkville with a federal tax stamp for legal gambling.

@Starkville70s For young men of a generation it was a haven of refreshment. The fish was nice to look at, but what held most of our attention was the Pike Calendar with co-ed of the month.

@Starkville70s The trip was to Moore's glass door restaurant then later it was a part of the Marshall Motel. Sunday buffet was best ever. True family experience.

@Starkville70s Started out in the late 60s as Grady's Hamburgers in a single wide. Just had burgers, fries, and Cokes. Whitfield St. tied into Ave. of Patriots at a 2 lane Hiway 12 and was filled with Green Oaks kids on bikes with dimes and quarters in their pockets for an after school treat.

@brianhadad Plenty long for sure. Congrats on great start to season. But longest shot I ever saw was at old grandstand Dudy Noble Field when infielder Phil Still hit one over right field wall and beyond gravel road. This 474 foot shot was fantastic; but Still's was orbital, with wooden bat.

@NFL During my MSU student days I worked with athletics. On Friday before USM-MSU game his senior year while USM was having walk through practice I watched Guy punt and place kick. The ball left stadium every time he touched it. From anywhere. Best ever.

@Starkville70s @mexkitchen Mrs. Alicia James and husband created a one of a kind experience in an old grocery store just east of the MSCW. Before others copied for kitschy decorating, you had to eat among the pepper cans and rice bags because of size of building. Family carrying on tradition. Hot sauce.

@Starkville70s @TBCStarkville Kiwanis Club met there for lunch for years. After Cy sold restaurant, a group of Starkville investors bought it and attempted to franchise ( remeber these were the days of Bonanza steakhouse) but never got more than a couple of additional sites. Good food. If open today, packed

@Starkville70s Still believe original Minit Mart was located where parking area of Bulldog Burger is now. It was a long thin building that later housed Mrs. Esther Goodmans knit shop, then District when Curry had it and was original Bulldog Deli. He needs a place in Heritage Museum.

@lynn_spruill Not as many today as there were before 82 by-pass. Recently neighbor and I had to flag down an 18-wheeler carrying liquid oxygen at night and driver was unaware of bridge. He was lost and using GPS. Should hang bridge height chains at McKinley and Baptist church side street.
